Head Instructor Ulises "Sam" Borrero was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. His sons Derrick and Michael and daughter Shannon train with him in Kempo. His wife Dolores, a High School teacher, provides all the loving support they each need to succeed in the martial arts. Head Inst. Sam began training in December 1995 and received his Student Black Belt in June 2005 and his 1st Degree Black Belt in July 2006. His Instructor is 3rd Degree Head Instructor Chris Polk. Head Instructor Sam received an Associates Degree in Social Science from the University of Puerto Rico and an Associates Degree in Fire Science from the University of Maryland and has 21 years in experience in the U.S. Air Force. His favorite book is the Bible and his favorite movies are "Enter the Dragon" and "Chinese Connection" with Bruce Lee and all Jet Li movies. Besides Universal Kempo Karate, he has background experience in Tae Kwon Do, Shotokan Karate International and Gojo-Ryu and is interested in many other sports such as basketball, baseball, and football.
